Harrisburg – The Center for Dairy Excellence is hosting a Building the Bridge to Dairy Farm Family Transition workshop that offer a hands-on approach to help farm families start the process of transition planning.
This event will take place on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, from 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m., at the Shady Maple Restaurant in East Earl, Pa.
“Generational differences when not addressed lead into potential problems in any business or family relationship,” said John Frey, executive director of the Center for Dairy Excellence. “It’s a unique opportunity to ask questions and gain insight, in a smaller setting, from industry professionals who have helped other producers through this process successfully.”
The center has been a resource for many farm transitions and has brought together industry expertise to help families initially prepare for a transition during this one-day workshop. Dr. Charlie Gardner, dairy transitions coordinator with the center, will facilitate the workshop, while speakers Mike McGrann with the TELOS Group, Ron Bare with Bare Financial Services, Mike Peachey with Acuity Advisors, Inc., and Jay Clark with James Clark & Associates will talk on the key points to a transition being successful.
Farm families interested in beginning the path toward a transition or who are already heading down that path are invited to attend the workshop. Event Registration: $50 includes breakfast & lunch and all materials for two people, additional family or team members $10 per person. *Note: All costs are reimbursable for families applying for Dairy Transition Team.
