Canadian Jersey Highlights for December 2022 Genetic Evaluations

Two Newcomers Last Round Make Big Gains for LPI and Pro$

With no newly proven sires entering the Top 50 ranks for either national index this round, the big news goes to two newcomers from August. Gaining 261 LPI points and $370 for Pro$, JX Cal‐Mart Westport {5}‐ET (World Cup {4} x Fastrack) catapults the LPI list from the #16 position to take #2 LPI and also increases to #2 Pro$ (#2 Fat). With this performance, he now follows immediately behind Golden GDK Vivaldi, who is the breed leader at #1 LPI and #1 Pro$ (tied #4 Fat, tied #7 Conformation). Forest Glen Kalahari (Regency x Dominos) also makes significant increases of 150 LPI points and $369 for Pro$, which jumps him into the #5 Pro$ position (from #21) and to #11 LPI from #29 (tied #4 Protein). The former Pro$ leader, JX River Valley Chief {6} ET, loses $557 this round but still manages to grab the #3 Pro$ spot (#8 LPI, #5 Milk, tied #9 Fat). The rest of the Top 10 LPI list is completed by DJ Zuma at #7 LPI (#38 Pro$), Wilsonview IF Matt‐ET at #9 LPI (#31 Pro$) and River Valley Magic Genie‐ET at #10 LPI (#40 Pro$).

With only Vivaldi, Westport {5} and JX Chief {6} achieving Top 10 status for both LPI and Pro$, each list includes seven other sires that achieve Top 10 status for only one national index. For LPI, it is Reyla Barnabas Channing that is now at #3 LPI (#11 Pro$, tied #9 Conformation) with Dutch Hollow Chavez‐ET staying at #4 LPI (#28 Pro$). River Valley Cece Chrome‐ET moves to #5 LPI (#20 Pro$) and Ahlem Kwynn Respect‐ET climbs from #12 LPI to take the #6 spot this round (#29 Pro$). On the Pro$ list, River Valley Pfennig Perfect Fit takes the #4 spot (#25 LPI, tied #9 Protein), Dodan Dew‐Z Dewey‐ET moves to #6 Pro$ (#24 LPI, tied #6 Protein) and is now followed by BW Puritan at #7 Pro$ position (#18 LPI). The Top 10 Pro$ list is completed by Hawarden Dimension Pilgrim‐ET at #8 Pro$ (#16 LPI, #3 Fat), Ahlem Headline Pharoah 21795 at #9 Pro$ (#19 LPI, #4 Milk) and Ahlem Megatron Windstar‐ET in #10 Pro$ position (#44 LPI, tied #7 Fat, tied #9 Protein). The highest newly proven sire this December is St‐Lo Barcelona Pollen at #56 LPI and #74 Pro$, who is a Barcelona son out of St‐Lo Samson Miellie).

Only one newly indexed cow manages to enter the top 5 rankings this December. As the highest newly indexed cow for GLPI this round, Caberoy Vivaldi Macarena dances into the #5 GLPI position (#63 Pro$, dam is Jernomic Balin Mapple). The four cows leading the GLPI list maintain their exact ranking as last round with Lencrest Cocopuff still at the helm in #1 position for both GLPI and Pro$ (tied #2 Fat). Unique HP Mattador Heaven stays at #2 GLPI (#4 Pro$) and is still followed by Unique Mattador Madeline at #3 GLPI (#5 Pro$, tied #6 Conformation) and Island Vivaldi Julie at #4 GLPI (#19 Pro$). In addition to Cocopuff, Heaven and Madeline, the Top 5 Pro$ list also includes the full‐sister daughters of Cocopuff as Lencrest Bourbon Cocopuff ET stays at #2 Pro$ (#13 GLPI, tied #9 Protein) and Lencrest Sweet Bourbon and Coco stays at #3 Pro$ (#17 GLPI, tied #9 Protein). Two other cows manage to achieve Top 10 status for both indexes, namely Reyla Channing Marquessa at #6 Pro$ and #10 GLPI as well as Redhot Matt Tesla ET at #7 GLPI (tied) and #8 Pro$. The three cows that complete the Top 10 GLPI list this December are Unique Tesla’s Myla at #6 GLPI (#11 Pro$, daughter of Tesla), Guimo Rufus Jezabelle, who is tied at #7 GLPI (#16 Pro$), and Grobrook Premier Rascal 741 at #9 GLPI (#17 Pro$). On the Top 10 Pro$ list, the three remaining cows are Unique Viral Marvel at #7 Pro$ (#15 GLPI), Progenesis Trillium at #9 Pro$ (#19 GLPI, #1 Fat) and Lencrest Premier Coco ET in #10 Pro$ position (#18 GLPI). The highest newly indexed cow for Pro$ this round is Buckland Chief Promdiva at #15 Pro$ (#66 GLPI, dam is Progenesis Zid Dramaqueen ET).
