Canadian Dairy Farmers Celebrate World School Milk Day

Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC) is proud to join over 40 countries across the globe to celebrate World School Milk Day, and highlight the positive contributions the program has made to the health and well-being of children across Canada, so they can play, learn, and grow.

“Dairy farmers truly believe in the power of Canadian milk as part of a wholesome and nutritious diet,” said Pierre Lampron, DFC President. “We are very proud to be integral to a program that helps the children in our communities grow and thrive, and I want to thank the school volunteers who take the time to facilitate this vitally important initiative.

Since its inception in 1974, the program has grown and is available right across the country, to provide the 16 essential nutrients, including high-quality protein, found in cow’s milk, to kids. One cup of milk contains 8 grams of protein, which is central to health at every age and provides energy that all Canadians can benefit from.

Millions of children have benefited from this program with the help of thousands of volunteers in schools and in the dairy industry. Learning about healthy diet choices at a young age can have positive impacts for a lifetime and by providing a nutritious beverage throughout the school year, school milk programs are getting Canadians off to a great start.
