QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will be a professional, team-oriented individual capable of multi-tasking and communicating effectively with Brown Swiss breeders. Candidate must possess integrity and ability to uphold breed policies/follow organizational procedures while addressing membership concerns. He/she must have interest in pursuing a career in the dairy/livestock or agribusiness industry and preferably (but not required) be of Junior or Senior college standing. Technical and computer skills are essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES: A candidate for the BSCBA summer intern position will learn various functions of the BSCBA national office including: Registration, Transfers, Embryos, Sale catalog layout/design, Genomics/Parentage processing, National Convention Organization, Brown Swiss Bulletin, Classification Record Processing and Accounting, routine experience answering membership questions and providing support for office staff. The intern will utilize the following computer programs: Brown Swiss database, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), QuarkXPress, and Adobe Photoshop, ftp sites, Classification (Access-based) software. The intern will need to be available June 25-27 to attend the National Brown Swiss Convention in Peoria, IL, and assist with Youth presentations and programs.
