Bloyce Thompson was sworn in as the 35th Premier of Prince Edward Island today during a ceremony at Government House.
Premier Thompson has served in a number of portfolios since first being elected in 2019, including Minister of Economic Development, Tourism and Culture, Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Justice, Public Safety, and Attorney General, and Deputy Premier.
Thompson is a well-known dairy farmer and Registered Holstein breeder from Frenchfort, PEI. The family’s Eastside herd has won a Master Breeder shield, and is known world-wide for high-type cattle. They co-bred Eastside Lewisdale Gold Missy EX-95-3E-CAN 35*, Supreme Champion at World Dairy Expo and the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in 2011.
