Betty Conant of Conant Acres Obituary

Our deepest thoughts are with the family & friends of Betty.

It is with extremely heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Elizabeth “Betty” Conant.

The matriarch of our farm family, Betty was a loving wife for nearly 60 years; a devoted mother and grandmother; 4-H leader; our family’s “rock”, and always our biggest supporter in any endeavor. In a hard working farm family, she was undoubtedly the hardest worker of all. Her calloused hands raised babies, prepared delicious meals for our family table, literally built a home and farm, cared for thousands of calves, threw hay bales, tended gardens, picked acres of sweet corn, and did anything and everything else that needed to be done. The only task she didn’t carry out on the farm was milking cows- saying if she never learned how, she wouldn’t be left on the farm alone to get it all done!

She was the “go to” person for advice on everything from building a home to raising babies to baking to planting the garden. Through it all, she was the most humble and genuine person, content to stand in the shadows and cheer from the sidelines.

Our farm motto is “Where Families Come First” and there was nothing in the world that Betty was more proud of than her family. She never missed an event, from a basketball game to a dairy show to a dance recital. Even up until the last week, her favorite place was sitting on the front porch of the market surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren supervising the comings and goings at the farm.

We appreciate your well wishes and prayers, and will share more details on arrangements when available.
