Ag for Life Connects Agriculture Industry with High School Students

Monsanto joins collaborative effort to provide in-class agriculture programming to Alberta students.(CALGARY, AB October 4, 2016) – In support of its new Agriculture 101: Food and Farming Junior/Senior high education program, Ag for Life is pleased to announce its partnership with Monsanto Canada Inc.
The Agriculture 101: Food and Farming program allows junior and senior high students to interactively explore various aspects of where their food comes from. Teachers can select an overarching theme, such as environmental sustainability, or they can choose from a list of topics, such as genetic engineering, pesticide use, technology, or agriculture marketing, to name a few. Students will learn how our current food production system affects human health, the environment, society and culture.

“As more and more families are distanced and disconnected from the agricultural community, the Agriculture 101 program aims to bridge this gap and improve the awareness and understanding,” says Luree Williamson, Ag for Life CEO. “That is why we are proud to be partnering with Monsanto to provide valuable agriculture education programs to our future decision makers.”

“Ag for Life is a go-to organization for educators and students in Alberta with questions about how food is produced,” says Kelly Funke, public affairs manager for Monsanto Canada. “We see the Agriculture 101 program as a great way to start the kind of two-way conversation that leads to improved understanding of food production and the people who produce it.”
