The Willows Edge Holsteins Dispersal 2017 took place March 18th at the farm in New Richmond, WI. The herd, owned by Henk & Bonnie VanDyk, has been a perennial showring contender, founded on strong cow families. The sale took place before a standing-room only crowd, averaging $3,166 on 165 lots, not including embryos.
Topping the sale at $37,500 was Lot 46, the 2015 Unanimous R&W All-American Winter Calf, Willows Edge Real Mink-Red. Mink, fresh earlier this month, was also nominated All-American R&W Winter Yearling in 2016. She is a Reality daughter from an EX91-2E Advent, followed by an EX93-2E Rubens and then 7 generations of EX & VG dams. She was purchased by Kyle Knutsen & Bonnie Van Dyk, WI.
Second high seller of the day was Lot 8, selling for $9,300. Willows Edge GD Frankie is a VG88 Golden Dreams from an EX91 AltaIota daughter of Willows Edge Bolton Flicker WX94-2E-GMD, with 8 more generations of EX & VG GMD cows following. Frankie will make her new home with Mike Garrow, NY.
The third high seller at $9,000 was Lot 30, Budjon-JK Atwd Eyeshadow-ET VG87. Eyeshadow is an Atwood daughter of Budjon-JK Storm Emily-ET EX92-2E-DOM, the 2005 Reserve All-American Senior 3 Year Old; followed by Linjet Eileen EX96-4E-GMD-DOM, the 2007 All-American 5 Year Old, with five more generations of EX dams from the Elegance family. She was also purchased by Mike Garrow, NY.
Lot 91 brought the fourth high price of the day at $8,100. Willows Edge GD Jasmine-WET VG87 is a Golden Dreams from an EX93 Sanchez daughter of Valleyville Lheros Jenn EX94-12*, the 2008 All-American & All-Canadian Senior 3 Year Old. Jasmine will also be heading to New York, purchased by Mike Garrow.
Two lots commanded prices of $7,500. Willows Edge Airlift Fallon VG85 sold as Lot 24 to Mike Garrow, NY. She is an Airlift out of a VG86 Bolton from an EX92-3E-GMD-DOM Outside followed by an EX92-3E-GMD-DOM Skychief, with six more generations of EX & VG GMD cows following.
Also selling for $7,500 to Golden Oaks Farm, IL was Lot 23, Willows Edge Gold Feona. Feona is an August 2015 Goldwyn, bred to Doorman, out of an EX92-3E-GMD-DOM Outside followed by an EX92-3E-GMD-DOM Skychief, with six more generations of EX & VG GMD cows following.
Rounding out the top six high prices of the day was Lot 157, selling for $7,400. Willows Edge Dundee Impulse EX91 is out of a VG88 Goldwyn daughter of Willows Edge Linjet Icon EX94-2E, followed by an EX94-4E Skybuck and two more EX dams. She was purchased by Richard Denier, CA.
