Following a joint National Convention with Ayrshire breeders, the attractive Erie Co. Fairgrounds served as the setting for both National Sales. A cattle viewing and social hour was enjoyed by all at the fairgrounds Thursday afternoon, July 4th sponsored by Cindy Warner’s Round Hill Acres and Wayne & Connie Sliker of Top Acres. The conventioneers then returned to Convention headquarters for the evening program and fireworks display.
Friday morning it was back to the fairgrounds for Sale Day. The Brown Swiss Sale included consignments from 13 states selling into 15 states making it truly national in scope.
High seller at $13,000 was lot 1, a May 2018 Dynamite daughter from Cutting Edge T Delilah “E94” who was the Supreme Champion at both The World Dairy Expo and The PA All American in 2018. Hills Valley Farms LLC and Lynn Telaak of Cattaraugus, NY purchased this outstanding heifer consigned by Elite Dairy, Copake, NY.
Second and third high of the day share the same dam—Top Acres Supreme Wizard ET “2E95”, WDE Champion for 2017. Selling for $9,500 was the choice of Wizard x Norwin calves due in September 2019 taken by Donald Graft, Fort Wayne, IN. Following closely as third high seller at $9,250 was an extreme dairy Cutting Edge Thunder September 2018 calf x Wizard going to Ron Kelm, Markesan, WI. Both Wizard offerings were consigned by Top Acres. St. Paris, OH.
Giesy Manor Richard Fauna “VG88/2y” sold due in August as a top level Junior 3 prospect for the shows. Giesy Manor, Leesburg, FL consigned this eye-catching Richard daughter that is now the property of Kelly Jo Manion, Scottsville, KY.
The New York National Sale was managed by Modern Associates, St. Paris, OH with Wayne Sliker handling pedigrees assisted by Darrell Worden as the auctioneer. Brian Garrison, Lee Barber and Lynn Lee worked the ring and phones along with cowbuyer providing online live bidding. Modern Associates clerked the event with Deb and Jenna Hoffman in charge of decorating both the barn displays and sale ring. Dale Bendig and his crew had them looking good under hot weather conditions. Young New York talent presented the cattle in the ring including Alyssa Grocott, Tucker True, Emily Mikel, Taryn True, Liana Ilardo, Ashton Giesy and Chloe Renaud.
