Minnesota Spring Special Holstein Sale

After a long chilly week the sun was shining and the temperatures were up and brought in a crowd to fill the bleachers of Holstein enthusiasts to the 2017 Minnesota Spring Special sale at the Olmsted County Fairgrounds in Rochester, MN. The sale was held on Saturday, April 8. 2017. At the sale 106 live lots were auctioned off and included three half lots. The sale averaged $2,140 on all the lots. The 2017 Spring Special sale also offered an online/onsite embryo auction. 9 total lots sold with an average of $966 per embryo lot.

The high seller of the day was Lot 31 Hartford Josuper 764 Leslie, consigned by Robert Eustice, Byron, MN. She was purchased for $7000 by Melarry Holsteins, Rice, MN. Leslie is a +2650GTPI Josuper from a VG86 Numero Uno followed by ten generations of EX & VG dams from the Gloryland-I Goldwyn Locket branch of the Roxys.

The second high seller was lot 1 Sheeknoll Sid Tophatt-ET consigned by Sheeknoll Farms, Rochester, MN. She was purchased for $5,600 by Austin Yoder, GA. Tophatt is a September Sid from the 2016 Unanimous All-American Aged Cow & WDE Grand Champion Sheeknoll Durham Arrow EX96-2E.

The third high seller was Lot 10, Ri-Val-Re Cinnamon-ET, selling for $4,900 to Shawn Hollerman, MN. Cinnamon is a +2747GTPI +906NM +6.3PL Jedi from a +2599GTPI AltaSpring followed by seven generations of VG & EX dams from the Larcrest Cosmopolitan family. She was the consignment of Jerry Jorgensen, MI.

T-Spruce Modesty 5913-ET sold for $4,500 as Lot 7 to be the fourth high seller. She is a +2776GTPI Modesty from a +2494GTPI Griggs out of a VG87 Becon. She was consigned by T-Spruce Holsteins, MN and purchased by DeBoer Holsteins, SD.

Rounding out the top five high sellers was Lot 15, selling for $4,000. Ri-Val-Re Miss Marla-ET, a +2740GTPI +6.4PL +863NM +3.4DPR Modesty from a +2629GTPI Montross from a GP83 Ransom from the Sully Planet Manitoba family. She was the consignment of Jerry Jorgensen, MI and was purchased by Jim Vierhout, IA.
