Hokkaido Holstein National Show was held on September 28th & 29th 2024 in Abira, Hokkaido, Japan. The official judge of the Holstein and Jersey shows was Tsuyoshi Seno of Seno Farm, Iwamizawa. The associate judge of the Holstein show, Junior Cup and the showmanship contest was Tomomasa Tamura of the Hokkaido Holstein Agricultural Cooperation. These two judges places 390 total head (337 Holsteins, 27 Jerseys, 26 Junior Cup).
In the Holstein show, only animals that qualified at their county shows, can be exhibited.
The Junior Champions were selected out of seven heifer classes. Out of these seven heifer classes, only daughters of bulls that were progeny proven in Japan could be exhibited in the first class.
There were 2 milking classes (2 yr olds & 3 yr olds), where only daughters of bulls that were progeny proven in Japan, could be exhibited. Intermediate Champions were selected out of these 2 classes, plus Junior 2-year-old, Mid 2-year-old, Senior 2-year-old, Junior 3-year-old, Senior 3-year-old classes; total out of seven classes.
Senior Champions were selected out of the 4-year-old, 5-year-old & aged cow classes, and the Grand Champions were selected out of the above Champions.
The JUNIOR CUP held at the end of the first day, had two heifer classes, and the heifers could only be led by exhibitors 20 yrs old and younger, and the exhibitors needed to have prepared the heifers. The Junior Cup Champion & Junior Cup Reserve Champion were selected out of these two classes.
A Jersey show was held at the beginning of the second day. Junior Champions were selected out of two heifer classes and Senior Champions were selected out of two milking classes.
In addition, three classes of showmanship were held on the second day: one for High School 9th & 10th Grader ages; one for High School 11th Grader ages; and one for High School 12th Grader ages. A Best Leadsman, and Second-Best Leadsman, and three runner-ups were selected in each class.
