The Genetic Strides Round 1 Sale took place October 24, 2015 in Mercersburg, PA. The sale featured over 100 head from Hollenshead Holsteins, and was co-managed by The Cattle Exchange and Stonehurst Farm.
COWBUYER sold five lots online, and carried the contending bid on seven more, including the second high seller. A total of 91 bidders participated in the sale through COWBUYER, bidding on over 15% of the lots.
Topping the Sale at $10,100 was Maple Wood Epic Giggle-ETS *VR VG89-EXMS. Giggle is an Epic daughter out of Morsan Manoman Fools Gold-Red VG89, followed by Stoneden Fools Gold-Red VG88, with four more generations of VG and EX dams. She was the choice of Todd Lohr of Hooversville, PA.
Second high seller at $10,000 was Glen-Valley Halo Moxie-ET. Moxie is a +2579GTPI October 2014 Halogen out of a VG86 Numero Uno, followed by 16 more generations of VG and EX dams. TJR Genetics of Farley, IA was the final bidder on this lot.
The third high seller was Ladys-Manor LA RD Sung-ET EX91, bringing $6,000. Sung is the #2 ranking GPTI Lauthority daughter and completes ten generations of EX and VG cows. Don Welk served as the buying agent for this cow.
Fourth high selling individual was ZBW-JD McCutchen Wippet-ET VG85, bringing $5,900. Wippet is +2366GTPI and completes 10 generations of VG & EX cows. Brandt-View Farm selected Wippet to join their herd.
Rounding out the top five high sellers for the day was Triplecrown-AI Rubico 13-ET, bringing a final bid of $4,700 from Woodcrest Dairy, NY. She is a +2541GTPI January 2015 Rubicon out of a +2410GTPI Numero Uno, followed by 7 generations of VG & EX dams from the Ronelee Outside Dabble family.
