The 2nd Annual C.U.D.S. Spring Dairy Sale was held Saturday, March 19th at Cornell University with 86 full lots averaging $2,875.00.  Topping the sale at $40,500.00 was lot 49, by AltaSpring from a fresh Supersire dam from Apples maternal line.  She carried a GTPI +2716 and sold to Select Sires with Pine Tree Dairy contending.  Lot 50 was the second high seller for $8,000.00, a Rubicon with a GTPI +2617 selling to David Chlus.  Her dam is a VG Supersire from the great MOM Halo!  Rousell Farm took home 2 beautiful cows, lot 4 for $6,300.00 sired by Goldwyn & already VG-87 and lot 5, a VG-87 Red Mr.Burns from the Apple family!

The students did a magnificent job selecting the cattle for the sale and having them show ready sale day.  Prior to the sale a judging clinic was held with many in attendance.  Jared Dueppengiesser acted as Sale Chairman and had a lot of help in making this a very successful event. The sale was managed by The Cattle Exchange with cattle selling to ten different states.  The sale staff consisted of Patsy Gifford, Horace Backus, Don Welk, Tom Harkenrider, Ray LeBlanc, Kevin Ziemba, Jamie Black and Abe Light along with internet bidding via Cowbuyer.com.

A nice crowd was on hand to partake in the judging clinic as well as the sale that consisted mostly of calves and open yearlings.  Prices were down from last year reflecting current milk prices.  A great time to ship your beef and buy some top quality genetics!
