Bosscher Dairy – Milk Quality Specialists

Bosscher Dairy, located in McBain, MI, is home to 250 Holsteins with nearly a 27,000 lb. RHA and SCC under 70,000. The farm is owned by Mike & Vicky Bosscher and herd manager Joe Kulhawick.

Joe has been at the farm nearly 30 years, and has developed his own Registered herd at the farm. There are about 40 Registered cows and the remainder of the herd is identified grades. Popular sires include Aftershock, Shuttle, Gold Chip, Candid and Shout.

The farm focuses on breeding for milk production and functional type. “We have to produce a quality product for our consumers,” commented Joe. They have received numerous Milk Quality Awards including the top spot on Northstar’s Performance Summary report for Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Wisconsin in 2017.

Mike is in charge of the farming operation, which totals about 1200 acres and a sweet corn stand in the summer. The farm is also located in a Wind Turbine area, that at full capacity, can power 49,000 homes in the area.

The dairy opened their doors to about 400 visitors during the National Holstein Convention on July 1. There was also a “Showcase” of cows from other Michigan breeders on display as well.
