Winners Announced for 2025 CMSS National Virtual Show

The Canadian Milking Shorthorn Society is pleased to share the results of the 2025 National Virtual Show. This virtual show is held annually to allow Milking Shorthorn breeders from across Canada to showcase their top animals through the submission of photos and videos. This year’s Virtual Show featured entries from twelve exhibitors from five provinces, with Zoe Hayes serving as judge.  Zoe and her family run the successful Llandovery Illawarra herd in Victoria, Australia, where they have bred numerous champions at International Dairy Week and other Australian shows. Zoe has previously judged at International Dairy Week, the Royal Adelaide Show, and a number of other Australian shows.

Junior Champion honours went to Oceanbrae Star Betty 31st, a Kuszmar Mercury Stargazer Senior Calf bred by Oceanbrae Farms of Belmont, Prince Edward Island. Betty 31st is owned by Ashlynne Marr, a 4-H member and new Milking Shorthorn owner from Evandale, New Brunswick.  Ashlynne purchased this heifer under the Society’s Shorthorn Heifer Incentive Program (SHIP) this past winter.

Reserve Junior Champion went to another 4-H project animal, Richford Icon Maeve. This Senior Calf sired by Richford Icon is bred and owned by Sheldon Richardson of Richford Farms, St. Marys, Ontario. She was exhibited by Samantha Lambert.

For Honourable Mention Junior Champion, Judge Hayes selected Kolson Laser Leading Lady (first place Junior Calf), bred and owned by Stephen & Janet Edwards of Cobden, Ontario. Leading Lady (sired by Top Shelf Royal Laser) sells in the CMSS National Online Sale on October 18th.

Grand Champion honours went to Oceanbrae Bentley Misty EX-90, a third lactation cow bred and owned by Oceanbrae Farms of Belmont, Prince Edward Island. Misty isa daughter of Oceanbrae Royal Bentley who placed first in the Second and Third Lactation Cow class.

For Reserve Grand Champion, Judge Hayes chose Richford Pingerly Valentine EX-92-3E, a ten year old daughter of Treeton Pingerly bred by Don Richardson of Richford Farms, St. Marys, Ontario. Valentine is owned by Oceanbrae Farms of Belmont, PEI.

Completing the Grand Championship sweep for Oceanbrae Farms was the selection of Oceanbrae Foster Lilibet VG-85, a third lactation cow sired by Oceanbrae Foster.
