Lauren Breunig of Sauk City, Wisconsin has been selected as the 2025 George Miller Memorial Scholarship recipient. She was recognized during the 2025 National Holstein Convention in St. Louis, Missouri. The scholarship was established in 2023 to honor the late George Miller and his significant contributions to the dairy and A.I. industries.
“Early experiences gave me confidence that my future would be rooted in the dairy industry,” says Lauren Breunig. “While my vision for a career has evolved over the years, dairy remains at the center of my focus. Beyond my career, I plan to dedicate my personal time to promoting the industry that means so much to me.”
Lauren is attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in life sciences communication. She grew up on her family’s Mystic Valley Dairy, active with their Registered Holstein herd and advocating for agriculture with consumers. She is a former Wisconsin Holstein Princess and has held leadership roles with Badger Dairy Club, Association of Women in Agriculture and National Agri-Marketing Association. Lauren is also a member of the UW-Madison dairy judging team.
Lauren hopes to pursue a career that combines her interest in communications as well as strategic marketing, consulting and innovation to support dairy producers.
“Lauren is well on her way to taking the dairy industry to new heights with her many great experiences to date, and superb understanding of the value of today’s consumer from many aspects of our industry,” says Jeff Ziegler, vice president of dairy cattle breeding at Select Sires Inc.
The George Miller Memorial Scholarship is funded by Select Sires Inc. through proceeds from semen sales of 7HO15807 GEORGE MILLER, a former NxGEN® sire. The scholarship is awarded by Holstein Association USA and administered by the Holstein Foundation.
