We are saddened to announce the passing of Hollis Parker Newson at home in Kingston, PEI on June 25, 2025 at the age of 77 years.
Hollis is survived by his wife, Beryl; his children, Jeff, Julie (Andrey) and Colby (Kendra); his stepchildren, Troy Moore and Justin Moore; and his grandchildren, Nevin, Ashley, Daisy and Levi.
He was predeceased by his parents, Parker and Florence (Younker) Newson.
Hollis will be remembered for his love of farming and especially his keen interest in Holstein cows, John Deere tractors, and harness racing. He was also a huge fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. His Diamond Hill herd won the Master Breeder Award from Holstein Canada, and Hollis could always be seen at shows and sales in the Maritimes. In 2018, he was presented with the Elmer K. Smith Memorial Award that recognizes a person who has contributed significantly to the dairy industry, fairs and exhibitions in Prince Edward Island.
Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home Belvedere Funeral Home, 175 Belvedere Ave., Charlottetown, PE, where a visitation will be held on Friday, June 27th from 4-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday June 28 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in East Wiltshire Cemetery.
