This year’s All Britain Awards received 169 entries, with results announced by Holstein UK on March 15th. After the UK Dairy Expo, the highly anticipated winners were announced at the annual All Britain Dinner. A total of fifteen classes were judged based on the quality of animals displayed in show rings at recognised shows across the UK in 2024. Each year, the awards bring together animals from across the UK to compete against each other.
A shortlist of animals from each class was submitted to the National Judging Panel after the first round of judging. The preliminary judges for this year were David Booth (Shawdale), Iain McLean (Priestland) and Wyn Jones (Feithy).
As a result of the high quality of entries this year, the judges made the following comments: David said, “I really enjoyed the day judging; it was a great entry with good classes of up to 19 entries. It was great to spend the day with my fellow judges. It was the first time I’ve been asked to judge this competition, and it has been a great honour.”
Iain added “It was an absolute honour to judge the All Britain Award classes, I very much enjoyed studying the photos of beautiful cattle of all ages.”
Wyn added “It was a privilege to be asked to judge this year’s All Britain Award nominations. May I congratulate all exhibitors on their entries, it has been a tremendous quality throughout the classes.”
Final placements were determined by the Holstein UK National Judging Panel, who allocated their placings individually, with the Champion, Reserve and Honourable Mention titles awarded to the animals with the most votes.
As Holstein UK’s Chairman, Steve Hill expressed his congratulations to all winners of the All Britain Awards 2024. “Holstein UK breeders continue to breed and exhibit an impressive display of cattle with the same dedication and passion as in years past, despite the challenges facing the industry. It is great to see animals excel in productivity and performance as the breed continues to develop and improve.”
