The 2017 annual meeting of the Pennsylvania Jersey Cattle Association (PJCA) is set to take place March 10-11 in State College, PA at the Ramada Conference & Golf Hotel. Pennsylvania Jersey enthusiasts will gather for their annual meeting to celebrate the achievements of PA Jersey youth, PA Jersey breeders, and the Jersey breed.
The Association will honor a deserving individuals with its Distinguished Service Award and PA Young Jersey Breeder awards. Breeders will also be awarded for top individual cow production records and overall top herd production honors for 2016. PA Jersey Youth are also encouraged to attend to compete in multiple youth contests. Youth can apply to compete in the Speech contest, Dairy Jeopardy, Scrapbook, Achievement awards, First Year Project Award, Scholarship, PA Jersey Queen, and the Youth Production contests. This year’s deadlines for the PA Jersey Youth contests is February 10th.
This year’s meeting will begin Friday evening at 7PM with a social event. Throughout the day Saturday, the youth will compete in the speech and dairy jeopardy contests while PA breeders watch on. The annual meeting will take place just after lunch where the winners of the Young Jersey Breeder Award, Norman Genetic Award, and PA Distinguished Service Award will be named. As the last meeting before the PJCA hosts the 2017 AJCA-NAJ Annual Meeting: the Jersey Address, preparations and planning will be a top priority.
