Miss United States Agriculture Pageant Seeking Participants

The Miss United States Agriculture pageant program was started in 2008 by current director Ciera Nitkowski.  Nitkowski is from Dothan, Alabama,
the “Peanut Capitol of the World”. The pageant started out as a fundraiser for a local food drive and has only grown from there.  This is the sixth year the National Pageant will be taking place, held in Birmingham, Alabama this year on June 25th.

The theme this year is “Red, White and Be “YOU” tiful”.

The pageant is seeking representatives from each of the following states: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, South Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Applications and more instructions are available on the Miss United States Agriculture website.

“Everybody’s got to eat, so agriculture obviously touches every aspect in everybody’s daily lives,” says current Miss Tennessee Agriculture Miss Kensey Catlett, and that it is important to spread agriculture’s message to the consumer audience. “This is such a good program for that.”
