The Massachusetts Blue Ribbon Calf Sale 2016 finished with a new, all-time high average of $1,792 on 60 lots.
The top seller was Lot 70 (Holstein), for $4,400, a choice of three March 2016 Doorman calves out of a VG88 Goldwyn daughter of Tomalynn Allen Min EX94-5E. The choice was consigned by Cooper Galton, NY and purchased by Jay, Drew & Sean Stetzer, WI.
Second high seller at $3,775 was Lot 25 (Milking Shorthorn), a December 2015 Lad out of an EX91-2E Othello, consigned by Ridale Genetics, MA. She was the choice of Elizabeth Peila, NY.
Bringing $2,900, Lot 2 (Ayrshire) was the third high seller. Ridale Homerun Velocity, a September 2015 Homerun from a VG87 Berkley. She was consigned by Ridale Genetics, MA and purchased by Katie Shultz, PA.
Three lots tied for fourth high seller at $2,700. One of these was Lot 51 (Holstein) R-E-W Samoa is a June Defiant from a VG85 Hvezda, out of an EX92 Dolman, with eight more generations of EX and VG dams. She was consigned by Max Wolf, NY and purchased by Palmer & Paler, MA.
Also selling for $2,700 was Lot 56 (Jersey), Cowbell Impression Nebraska-ET, a September 2015 Impression. She is a potential seventh generation EX from an EX Vindication, and then an EX Duke out of Cowbell Imperial Nestle EX93. Nebraska is a maternal sister to Cowbell Guapo Sneakers EX91, and was consigned by Christine Sheesley-Rozler, NY and purchased by Lilly Lane Farm, CT.
The final lot bringing $2,700 was Lot 61 (Jersey), a June 2015 JEMI Sultan Teabow out of Opportunity Hired Gun Viper VG89, HM All-Canadian and nominated All-American Senior 2 Year Old. Viper is out of a VG87 Amedeo, followed by a VG88 Response daughter of Huronia Centurion Veronica EX97. She was consigned by Jamie & Petra Black and Dan & Helene Meier, NY and purchased by Virginia Patz, VT.
