Boston Chipotle Receives OK to Reopen

A Boston Chipotle restaurant where 136 people fell ill with norovirus is being allowed to reopen.  Mayor Marty Walsh’s administration says the Chipotle near Boston College passed inspection Wednesday and can reopen Thursday.

Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. spokesman Chris Arnold says the Denver-based company is resupplying the restaurant. He says the inspection “went very well” but won’t elaborate.  Walsh spokeswoman Bonnie McGilpin says a final inspection report is not yet complete. She says all employees at the restaurant have completed a food safety training program.  The restaurant has been closed since Dec. 7 after Boston College students and other patrons became sick with the gastrointestinal virus. The illnesses are not linked to a rash of E. coli cases that shuttered dozens of restaurants in Oregon and Washington in October.
