Demand for cheese is growing in South Korea. A recent report by the USDA Global Agriculture Information network showed a 60% increase in cheese imports to South Korea since 2010.
The report notes cheese consumption has also increase by more than a third in the last five years. Directly correlating to South Korea’s growing love of pizza. Nick Buyse a dairy market analyst with FCStone says a good chunk of the cheese consumption growth in Asian countries in can be attributed to pizza chains. He noted that Papa John’s third quarter international sales were up 8% over 2014’s 5.5% pace.
“Similarly Pizza Hut’s Asian sales are up 4% and Domino’s international division sales were up 7.7% in the third quarter,” he says.
Turns out people all over the world love cheesy pizza which is good news for dairy farmers.
