Biography
Callum McKinven co-owns and operates Lookout Holsteins and Jerseys with his wife, Katherine, and three daughters, Tara, Brooke and Alana, in Canton de Hatley, Quebec. The 35-cow milking herd at Lookout consists of a combination of Holsteins, Jerseys and Brown Swiss that have garnered numerous All-American and All-Canadian Awards. As a prominent dairyman and showman, McKinven has been recognized with both the A.C. “Whitie” Thomson Memorial Award at World Dairy Expo and the Curtis Clark Award at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. This year is McKinven’s eleventh appearance as an Expo judge since beginning his judging career 31 years ago. During these three decades, he has judged in 31 countries around the world including at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, the TD Canadian 4-H Dairy Classic, the Hokkaido National Show, the South African National Show and two World Holstein Conference shows.
Dean Malcolm, owner of Bluechip Genetics, CrazyCow In Print – an Australian dairy magazine – and Dean Malcolm Photography, resides in Victoria, Australia with his wife, Dianna. Malcolm holds multiple records in Australia including developing the most 94 and 95-point cows in the country, including Eden Holme Retake Bangles, the 2010 Australian Ayrshire of the Year and current production record-holder. Bluechip Genetics set multiple country-wide records when it was dispersed in October 2016 resulting in the highest average and gross sales of a one-day dispersal in the Southern Hemisphere. Leading up to the dispersal, Bluechip was recognized as Premier Exhibitor at International Dairy Week six out of seven years, and has won Premier Holstein Breeder awards eight of the last nine years as Bluechip animals continue to excel for their new owners. Malcolm has judged cattle around the globe including at the 2018 Borderway UK Dairy Expo, 2017 New Zealand Dairy Event and numerous Australian shows.
