Semex has appointed Adam Walters as its national beef specialist.
Adam, 21, comes to the position with a strong industry background and a recently decorated resume.
Born in Dalgety, on the Snowy River (51km from Cooma), in New South Wales, Adam comes from 3000-acre family operation.
The family farm, Rosskin, carries up to 150 stud and APR (Australian Performance Recorded) Angus and Charolais breeding cows. The property is also home to more than 2000 Merino ewes, crossbreds and Poll Dorset rams.
A former shearer, Adam has also excelled at beef judging competitions, winning state and national competitions from the time he was 18 at the Sydney Royal Easter Show and the Canberra Show. He is also one of six Australian Landmark Ambassadors for the Angus youth program. His exposure, rapid success and background make him an exciting addition to the Semex team, according to Semex’s general manager Jim Conroy.
“Adam comes to the position with excellent cattle knowledge, a great knowledge of pedigrees and performance data,” Jim said. “He also has a great work ethic, a passion for quality livestock and a very pleasant personality.
“We are eager to develop and grow our reputation in the beef industry so that it equals our dairy business, which is customer focussed, with long-term relationships and superior genetics across several breeds.”
Adam said he was looking forward to the challenge and the opportunity to work with Australia’s beef producers.
Semex is the exclusive distributor of livestock genetics marketed by the Semex Alliance, the world’s largest artificial breeding organisation. Although traditionally associated with Canadian genetics, Semex now conducts formal progeny testing programs throughout the world, including Canada, US, Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
